A Message from our Program Director
Chris Retts describes LAFSC’s transition to a CA-based 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and describes the LAFSC Launch Fund.
Give monthly or annually to become an LAFSC Patron and join our Creators Guild.
Our Goal
Beginning Tuesday, November 28th, our goal is to have 200 friends and alumni, 200 patrons, agree to give once, monthly, or annually to the L.A. Film Studies Program. Our hope is that in total these 200 patrons will give $50,000, or 15% of what we need to complete our Launch Fund.
Our approach
Our goal is to raise $325,000. That’s the total amount necessary to run the program from July 1st, 2024 through January 31st, 2025. In mid January, this expenditure will be recouped (and then some) by tuition, which, depending upon enrollment, will cover about 80% of our operating funds for the entire year. Because of this, we’ll be able to roll remaining funds into the operating budget for an additional 1-2 years as we continue to widen and deepen our sources of funding.
How
We plan to tackle the raise through a combination of small-dollar donations from friends and alumni, large private donor donations, industry sponsorships, and grants. Here are our goals, broken down by source:
35% (or $115K) from Industry Sponsors
40% (or $130K) from Major Donors
10% (or $10K) from Grants
15% (or $50K) from Patrons like you!
The LAFSC Launch Fund establishes a runway to sustainably launch LAFSC for another 30 years and more.
